Hi guys,
I have a lenovo ideapad flex 5i (taeko) and I am trying to use the audio fix script. However, whenever I use the fix script, the laptop will hard freeze shortly after booting. So far I have found that the issue is caused by the sof firmware. Just installing the firmware is enough for the system to freeze. I installed arch (manual, minimal setup) even without alsa, the firmware cause freezing. In fedora audio works by default but still freezes, removing alsa-sof-firmware solves the freezing but kills the audio. I also tried with debian 12, I thought it could be something with the newer version and kernel incompatibility but the same freezing happened there.
I found out that the laptop works fine installing the sof firmware and keeping something plug in one of the usb ports (a mouse or pen drive works). The laptop will freeze again after a few seconds if the system is left on idle but while doing any activity it will continue working.
The solutions I have found until now are:
- uninstall the sof firmware and have no sound
- have sound with the sof firmware but keep something plugged in the usb ports all the time
Do you guys have any idea what causes the freezing and how to solve it?
