Hi, I’m filing this under ‘Linux’ because I’m duel booting with Pop_OS, but my problem is really with Chrome OS.
I’m using a Pixelbook Go.
I was able to run RW_Legacy fine and install Pop_OS. Everything looks good. So I tried to go into Chrome to see if that worked ok. Except I ran into a screen that says “Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Please remove all connected devices and start recovery.” Now I can’t get out of that. Nothing I press works. Turning on and off just brings me to the same screen.
My only thought is that I didn’t create partitions in Pop_OS when I installed it. Should I have? And either way, how do I get out of this? If I reinstall Chrome OS, will I loose what I did in Pop_Os?
Thanks in advance.
If you didn’t specify a manual partition layout when installing Pop!_OS most likely the installer just used the entire disk (which overwrites ChromeOS naturally).
You can reinstall ChromeOS by creating a recovery USB using the Chromebook Recovery Utility (it’s a Chrome extension) and entering recovery mode on the Chromebook with the recovery USB plugged in.
Thanks! I was able to do that without a problem. What’s the best way to do the partition? I attempted to specify a partition when I installed Linux, but there were a lot of little partitions and I had no clue what I should be targeting, so I just overwrote everything. Is there a way to do it before I get to the installation phase? Or should leave those little partitions alone?
Thanks again!
Let me know if you have any further questions!
