Can't disable Write Protection on Pixelbook (Eve)

I have a Pixelbook (Eve) that I’d like to get running Linux.

Following the CR50 WP disable instructions to the letter and I’m unable to disable WP–maybe be some changes to Chrome OS?

The Shell as instructed in the writeup does not allow Sudo, so I use the VT-2 terminal and the only output I get from ls /dev/ttyUSB is /dev/ttyUSB0 which is missing ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2 per the instructions.

Therefore, the rest of the commands to disable WP don’t work and crossystem wpsw_cur returns 1 instead of 0.

I have the SuzyQable which is working as far as I can tell, it shows up in dmesg on the Pixelbook and it reports normally in MacOS. I believe it is plugged-in correctly , so the “DB” end is facing up and plugged-in to the left port but I’ve tried all four configurations with both ends.

SuzyQable:

Product ID: 0x501f
Vendor ID: 0x18d1 (Google Inc.)
Version: 32.99
Serial Number: 002000**02CD
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/s
Manufacturer: Google Inc.
Location ID: 0x02100000 / 1
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

Any help is appreciated.

Just pull-out battery cable from slot and use power cable to turn on the pixelbook. Flash with UEFI afterwards.

I don’t recommend this at all on EVE. The device itself is difficult to open in a way that will go back together perfectly. And the battery connector is very small, with fine-pitched pins, and if you don’t line it up perfectly before reconnecting, you will short the mainboard. Much easier and safer to just get a SuzyQ cable/adapter from ebay for $10

I think someone reported that they were unable to do CCD with the Pixelbook on itself, but they were able to do CCD when accessing the Pixelbook from a different computer.
