Cannot reenable WP: Failed to apply to WP settings: Unknown WP error on an HP 11a chromebook

I’m following this guide to boot Linux. My FW code is KAPPA. I removed the battery to disable WP instead of using the SuzyQable and now it is saying I should re-enable write protection. Using (as root ofc) flashrom --wp-enable I got the error message in the title, and when I specified range as the guide told me to I was told the format was wrong.

Disconnecting the battery disables hardware WP. Running flashrom commands disabled software wp. Unless you ran flashrom commands to disable WP then you don’t need to enable software wp, just reconnect battery to enable hardware WP.

I ran flashrom commands to disable SW WP per the guide.

the guide’s commands to re-enable SW WP appear more complex than needed:

sudo flashrom --wp-region WP_RO
sudo flashrom --wp-enable
