Summary of the Issue

I tried to revert to stock but, after unplugging the battery and also using a paper clip on the jumper while recovering, it shows that “Something went wrong” when I try to boot

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Tried to recover ChromeOS using USB stick while unplugging the battery and using a papercilp on the jumper

  2. After finishing recovery it reboot and displays an error screen

  3. Tried many times, the cycle simply repeats which makes me think I bricked my Chromebook

Expected Behavior

The Chromebook should have booted up normally

If it’s bricked then it’s over I don’t have a backup computer only a phone which I don’t think is enough for a suzy qable or the other thing

unfortunately you need another device to read the logs from the recovery USB and see what the problem was

I figured out I can run Linux on my phone natively thru root so may I ask how do you read the logs

Read here: Debugging | MrChromebox.tech

By the way, when you’re recovering do you disconnect the battery/paperclip the jumper after recovery before the initial boot or before you flash

My school Chromebook was randomly deprovisioned so now I have another device to read the logs, I might order a suzy qable if the problem is a firmware problem

Ordering a suzy qable, seems like this problem is solved.

Before flash, because that is the point where you need to access the onboard flash chip. In its default configuration the security chip activates CCD when it detects the battery is disconnected. With CCD the security chip accepts external write instructions for the onboard flash chip.

The debricking guide is on Mr. Chromeboxes website, all the instructions should be there.

Good luck with your recovery!

Yes, I know I have to disconnect the battery before using the Suzy qable. Thanks though and have a good day!
