Model: BOTEN-YGHA
My Chromebook remains on a blank-screen indefinitely when powering on. However, I am able to get to the recovery screen by holding escape
, refresh
, and pressing the power button.
My Chromebook got in this state while I was trialing running a Linux operating system (Pop-OS) natively on the device. I was able to run the Linux operating from a flash-drive and I was ready to try installing it to the device. The next step was to disable the write lock, but I believed my model required a specialized cable to do so. Some models only required disconnecting the battery, and while I didn’t believe my model was one of them I still gave it a shot just in case. I disconnected and reconnected the battery a few times while testing and the device remained functional between disconnections and re-connections… until it didn’t. After one of my tests disconnecting the battery, the device would not boot even after reconnecting the battery, leaving it in the state it is in now.
I had tried a few things to fix it, but most significantly, I tried Reset your Chromebook hardware, and Recover your Chromebook, but the issue still remains.
What could I do to fix this device? Is it a lost cause?
