Device: ASUS Chromebook CX1 (Model:CX1500CNA-BR0057) Board Name: BABYTIGER OS: ChromeOS Firmware Type: UEFI Full ROM Firmware Version: As reported by the script Internal storage type: eMMC
Unable to disable write protection by disconnecting the battery. Unable to enter in developer mode with the battery disconnected.
Steps to Reproduce
Disassemble and disconnect the battery. Confirmed it’s only powered on by the 45W charger.
Pressed. Refresh + Esc + Power, only boots into normal chromeos and not developer mode.
When connecting the battery, and when in developer mode. Running sudo gsctool -a -odoesn’t get PP done
Expected Behavior
PP Done.
Has anyone got the same device and was able to successfully disable write protection. Do I need the suzyCable?
don’t understand why people keep doing this. You have to boot to recovery mode and switch to developer mode before removing the battery to disable WP. You also don’t need to remove the battery and unlock with gsctool.
Yes sorry. Should have typed my reply a bit better. I meant. After removing the battery, i cant boot into recovery mode and then the developer mode. I’m specifically following the instruction from your website
“Opening CCD with gsctool”
And the
“Disconnecting the Battery“
Sections which does say to remove the battery, flash and reconnect
So i figured i need to do this step
When things are out of area of expertise, I only was using this forum to check if others had faced the same issue
Your operation steps did not follow the official guidance specifications at all. The prerequisite for starting to flash the script is that the device correctly opens developer mode, opens VT2 mode, and correctly inputs the script before the device can run correctly and start flashing UEFI ROM. The official has not stated that the correct operation for unplugging the battery is to disconnect the battery and motherboard connection port, and then use a charging power cord to perform the operation.
