ASUS C536EA (Delbin rev3) – CoolStar SOF Audio Code 10

System Details

  • Device: Delbin (ASUS C536EA-BI3T3, rev3)
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (also tested on 25H2 with identical results)
  • Firmware Type: UEFI Full ROM
  • Firmware Version: MrChromebox-2606.0 (BIOS Date: 2026-07-09)
  • Internal storage type: NVMe SSD

Summary of the Issue

Audio has never worked since installing Windows. The official CoolStar driver bundle installs successfully, but CoolStar SOF Audio (WDM) always fails with Code 10.

0Event Viewer reports:

Service: CsAudioIntcSOF

Problem Status: 0xC00000E5

The Intel audio controller (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A0C8) loads correctly, and the Realtek ALC5682 + two Maxim 98373 codec devices all enumerate normally.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Clean install Windows 11 Pro 23H2 (also reproduced on 25H2).

  2. Install the official CoolStar driver bundle (including CoolStar HD Audio and CoolStar SOF Audio (Intel/I2S)).

  3. Reboot.

Result:

  • CoolStar SOF Audio (WDM) appears in Device Manager with Code 10.

  • No audio output devices are available.

Expected Behavior

CoolStar SOF Audio should start successfully and provide working audio through the Realtek ALC5682/Maxim 98373 hardware.

I’m mainly wondering whether this is:

  • a known issue with Delbin rev3,

  • a firmware compatibility issue with MrChromebox-2606.0,

  • or whether there’s an updated SOF topology/driver package that supports this board revision.
