System Details
- Device: ASUS Chromebook Flip C302 CAVE
- OS: ChromeOS
- Firmware Type: Stock, attempting UEFI Full ROM
- Firmware Version: Google_Cave.7820.384.0
- Internal storage type: eMMC
Summary of the Issue
I have disabled the WP by removing the screw on the board, and the FW script is even reporting the “Fw WP: Disabled,” in the details above the numeric menu option when running the script.
Option 1 is greyed out due to this device no longer being supported.
Option 2-4 are selectable, but have [WP] beside of them and do not do anything when I type the number and press enter.
Option 5 to backup the firmware works.
What am I missing? The device is connected to network, and I have logged into guest and ran flashrom –wp-status to triple double check that FW WP is disabled.
Does the same thing with and without the battery disconnected.
Steps to Reproduce
-
Disabled WP via methods shown on MrChromebox website (WP screw + shell script methods) after booting into developer mode.
-
Booted into device again, got to login as developer mode, ran ChromeOS Device Firmware Utility Script
-
Loads, shows all device information, shows FW WP is disabled, but will not let me select option 2 to install UEFI firmware.
Expected Behavior
I guess it should have installed the UEFI firmware and prompted me for a backup?
TIA for any help. I’m at a loss. I have done this before, successfully, on a Google Pixelbook, but this one has me stumped and I did not see any other topics with this model and this specific issue.
