Acer Spin 512 turns on with lid trigger

After installing Mr. Chromebox’s firmware last year, my Acer Spin 512 would power on every time the lid was opened.

I was able to fix this by disabling the “Power on after fail” option in the EFI settings.

Unfortunately, after the 2025-11-01 update, that option has been removed and my computer powers on again when the lid is opened.

While it’s a minor inconvenience, I’d rather not have my computer turn on just from the lid opening, as the lid trigger is sensitive; I have found my battery close to dead due to the computer being stuck on LUKS password entry and unable to sleep.

I don’t see any other options that appear related to my issue in the EFI settings.

Just to update, I have now also found that just plugging the computer into power with the lid closed will turn it on.

I tested a few times to make sure and can confirm plugging into power turns on the computer.

this is default Chromebook behavior since the very beginning, nothing to do with my firmware.

same for powering on when external power attached if EC is in deep sleep.

Thinking back, you are right. I don’t know why I forgot that.

I did appreciate the ability your firmware gave me in allowing me to disable that function though.

Thank you for your time.
