Hi does anyone know where the write protect jumper is located on the Acer Chromebook plus 515 (omnigul)?
It’s in the docs:
WP Method: CR50 (SuzyQ, battery)
There is no information on the Write Protect jumpers, you cant flash the bios with Suzy q and battery disconnect alone.
This device should allow flashing with battery disconnect or SuzyQ, no jumpers needed. What issue are you having exactly?
I’m getting ‘Warning: Failed to open the file firmware-util.sh: Read only file system.
I did go through the Suzy Q steps previously and when entering crossystem wpsw_cur
it does return a zero value.
I am attempting to run the script as root which may not be correct but i have no access to chronos as it asks for a password.
the instructions explicitly tell you NOT to log in as root, for this exact reason.
they also tell you NOT to enable debugging options, or click other things you don’t understand.
powerwash, then run the script as chronos.
This was my initial path but at no point was i able to login as chronos this is why i attempted the root path.
Anyway thanks to your advice i realized chronos was key and as root was able to set a developer password with ‘chromeos-setdevpasswd’ and use chronos to run the script.
Interestingly the Coolstar script brought up the menu but hung when i tried to (2) flash full bios
cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh && sudo bash firmware-util.sh
but this script on mrchromebox website worked:
cd; curl -LOf https://mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh && sudo bash firmware-util.sh
Thanks again ![]()
there is no coolstar script, I’m the only one who does firmware
