Acer Chromebook 41 installing Linux

Hello all! Unfortunately I’m a bit stuck. After following the steps and docs I was able to Enable Dev mode, remove the WP screw, and load the mrchromeboxtech firmware on my Acer Chromebook 14 (CB3-431 Edgar). Then much to my excitement I was able to load GalliumOS!

After realizing GalliumOS was no longer supported, I decided to swap to Mint or Fedora. I figured this would be an easy process as all I would have to do is to load up a Fedora or Mint ISO to a USB and follow the install process, but I can’t get the installers to load most of the time, and then if I do actually get them to boot, they end up crashing mid way through the install process when it comes time to copy files.

I’ve been using Rufus v4.9.2256 and writing to USBs in DD Image Mode. linuxmint-22.1-cinnamon-64bit.iso and Fedora-KDE-Desktop-Live-42-1.1.x86_64.iso. I can boot, select my USB to boot to. Sometimes I’ll just get a black screen, I’ll reboot a couple of times and eventually get to GRUB and be able to select the Live version. After that, more often than not I’ll just get a black screen with a single underscore, and then nothing happens.

I’m not quite sure where to go from here. At one point, I was able to get the Live version of Mint to load, was able to use GParted to wipe the hard drive and attempted to install, but after a crash during the install it seems I’m making negative progress.
