Acer 516GE (Osiris) USB C Ports Don't Work on Newer Linux Kernels

The USB C ports on Osiris don’t work for display out or data transfer on Linux distros shipping newer kernels. They work fine under Ubuntu 22.04 and Linux Mint, but not Ubuntu 23.10 or Fedora 39. I’ve tried multiple devices/adapters/dongles/etc. I’m running the latest firmware.

Happy to provide additional documentation or run tests as needed.

It’s been noted down in documentation, for some reason intel-pmc-mux isn’t getting loaded before cros-ec-typec.

This was an upstream kernel issue. It should be fixed in 6.6+
