Looks like our story doesn’t end there. Everything seems to be working, but I’m unable to update the firmware from within the Fedora terminal? That’s odd.
See this recording on asciinema. I ran the script and rebooted but it reports I didn’t update.

It looks like flashrom worked just fine, maybe the script has an issue?

It might? I might have to bug Mr Chromebox

opened a bug here Lenovo Yoga C13 - Cannot update Firmware via firmware-util ¡ Issue #335 ¡ MrChromebox/scripts ¡ GitHub

It’s been fixed, but now the superior-to-touchpads trackpoint doesn’t work in Linux because of some issue Windows users reported ugh.

Custom firmware is an option, as long as you are fine with a risk of bricking.

Hopefully it won’t brick, but I’ll happily take a revised firmware release that supports me using the trackpoint again.
Imho, there’s no reason to use a Thinkpad if you’re not making use of the superior trackpoint.
