Id like to do a full OS switch to Linux Mint on my Chromebook but I’m having a bit of trouble finding more information on my specific chromebook to see if it is even possible to attempt, My Chromebook is a Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15IJL6. Any information would be helpful, I can find resources to switch OS I just wanted to find anything saying if its even possible. Thank you very much for your time.
all of the documentation here and on MrChromebox.tech uses the ChromeOS board name, not make/model. Read the docs to determine what that is, and it will tell you if your device is supported and what the limitations are
so once I find the actual board name for my model I just put the board name itself in the search on mrchromebox? not the make?
tells you everything you need to know
It took me a while to find the right thing, i kept finding 82N4 but now I know the board is Blipper-Sbbr, this is a dumb question but is there a difference between Blipper and -Sbbr or are they the same thing?
how can it be made more clear? literally the only thing that matters is the board name, which is the very first part of the HWID string. If you are searching using the model you are doing it wrong, just find the HWID as per the instructions.
This is the first time I am trying this, I’m just trying to cover all my bases to make sure I even able to attempt this, I’m sorry.
ok, but how can we make the documentation more clear?
I saw the sbbr I wasn’t sure what that meant, I didn’t see that on the document so I wanted to ask if that means its a different version of the board.
The board name is listed at the bottom of both the Recovery Mode and Developer Mode screens -- it's the first part of the hardware ID (HWID), before any spaces or hyphens.
how can I better word that?
I did see and get the board name from recovery mode but I didn’t see that bit about hyphen, I genuinely just missed that. I’m sorry if this annoys you I just wanted clarification before I did anything.
I added examples to the website, hopefully that helps
