Aopen Chromebox Commercial 2 disabling write protection issues (JAX)

Going down this rabbit-hole of ChromeOS and devices - currently acquired an Aopen Chromebox Commercial 2 (JAX) with the sole idea of reloading it with Batocera. After checking the supported devices page on mrchromebox.tech, I went ahead and made the purchase and finally got around to tinkering with it this week.

Opened the system up and noticed that the write-protect screw has already been removed. It looks like the only option I have to disable write protect on this system is with a SuzyQable. The device itself does not have any USB C ports, can I use an adapter with the debug board? Is disabling write protection possible using the management port on this device? Found dead ends on reddit, thought I’d post here to see if anyone came across this issue or has better answers.

someone mentioned to me the WP implementation here is reversed - you insert a screw there to disable WP

Let me find a screw and give that a try - I’ll for sure post my results.

if it works, plz post a pic (w/o the screw) so I can add to the website

It worked!

Attached are two photos, one with the WP screw removed and (what looks like) where the screw was stored (its the one I used). The second is with the WP screw installed.
